Cari – Plot #10

I thought of something to add to the blog that I have learned this year.  My plot is #10 and it has a couple large holes in the soil because I needed soil to “hill up” my potatoe plants when they started getting tall.  I didn’t know that all the new potatoes grow above the seed potato so the more you mound soil onto the plants as they grow the more potatoes you can harvest.  So it’s good to dig a pit or a trench and then plant the seed potato 5″ down so there is lots of vertical space and soil to hill up as the plans grow.  As opposed to having to bring soil to the plants from another area like I had to!

Thanks for the blog and the pics, it’s great!
