Best Summer Ever

August 2015

The Silver Springs Edible Garden Group came together this summer to make this one of our most successful seasons ever. With lots of sunshine and lots of TLC the garden boxes overflowed with produce and the perimeter garden flourished under the constant care of our volunteers. The perimeter garden is a common area so the care of this area is shared by all of the box holders. This year we had regular maintenance sessions so everyone pitched in and took ownership of the process and the perimeter got the benefit. Thank you so much to everyone, who came out and worked, socialized and learned from one another.

We have a Potluck scheduled in September in conjunction with our final clean-up bee and more activities planned to fill in the time before we get back to the dirt next spring.

Family Fun Day

Members of the Silver Springs Edible Garden Group (EGG) and families from the community came together for an afternoon of socializing and sunshine at the garden on July 19! This family event was a chance for members to catch up during the busy summer months and kids had fun in the garden with bubbles, chalk and of course, ice cream!  It was also an opportunity for families from the community to learn more about the amazing and vibrant assortment of fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs growing, not to mention sample fresh peas growing along the fence and taste Saskatoon berries fresh from the garden! Thank you to everyone who was able to join us and consider joining us for future events which are advertised here and on our bulletin board at the garden which is located on Silver Hill Road NW. Community members are encouraged and welcome to stop by any time to enjoy the garden!
