September 2015

We’re in the process of putting the garden to bed for the winter. We’ve had a very successful season, with lots of different vegetables grown. We’ve had multi-coloured carrots, beets, cabbage, english cucumbers, squash and melons, to mention just a few.

Compost Presentation

On August 24, about 20 of us had the opportunity to hear Mike Dorion speak at the garden on the subject of composting.

We have had some concerns about the quality of compost we have been receiving from local suppliers and Mike was able to educate us on alternatives to commercial compost and set us on the path to more productive soil. Over the winter we will be investigating how we can amend the garden soil so that it can be even more productive next summer.
